Ayurvedic Plum Chutney for Sweet Rejuvenation
A sacred summer recipe from my kitchen to yours.
Last week, I stirred together the season’s juiciest plums with the alchemy of Ayurvedic spices to create a plum chutney that feels like medicine wrapped in joy.
This isn’t just a condiment, it’s a healing companion for your meals. In Ayurveda, chutneys are more than flavor; they stoke agni (digestive fire), balance the doshas, and bring rasa (taste + emotional essence) into harmony.
🍑 Ingredients:
Ripe organic plums (sweet and slightly sour – perfect for summer’s heat)
Freshly grated ginger
A touch of raw honey
Black pepper
A pinch of cumin, tumeric and cardamom
A pinch of Himalayan salt
A whisper of cinnamon or cardamom
Optional: raisins or dates for extra depth
🌿 Why this chutney is healing:
Balances Pitta: Plums are cooling and sweet, perfect for soothing summer’s fire.
Kindles Agni: Spices like ginger, cumin, and pepper stimulate gentle digestion without overwhelming.
Rejuvenates: A touch of natural sweetness nourishes ojas—our inner vitality and immune essence.
🧡 How I served it:
I spooned it over warm kitchari, swirled it into yogurt, and even had it with soaked almonds for a late-afternoon grounding snack. Each bite felt like a prayer to my belly.
🌕 A ritual suggestion:
Offer the first spoonful to the divine — your own inner goddess of nourishment. Let this chutney be a reminder that food can be both simple and sacred.
