About Katy

Katy Mumford is an Ayurvedic Health Counsellor, Panchakarma Therapist, Astrologer, and Yoga Teacher based in Topanga, California.

Her work bridges ancient healing traditions with modern understandings of psychology, nervous system regulation, and embodied transformation. Guided by the belief that healing unfolds through presence, rhythm, beauty, and relationship with the natural world, she creates spaces for deep restoration in an increasingly overstimulated and disconnected culture.

Drawing from Ayurveda, yoga, astrology, and contemplative traditions, Katy’s approach supports people experiencing burnout, depletion, transition, emotional overwhelm, and disconnection from the body and soul. Her work combines grounded therapeutic care with ritual, insight, and nervous system restoration.

British by birth, Katy moved to the United States at age thirteen and has since called the UK, Hawaii, New York, and California home. Her perspective has been shaped by years of study across both academic and spiritual traditions, weaving together Eastern and Western approaches to healing and human transformation.

Katy serves as a Panchakarma Therapist at Surya Spa under leading Ayurvedic practitioner Martha Soffer, where she practices traditional Ayurvedic therapies. Her studies in Ayurveda began with Dr. Vasant Lad at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and continue through advanced study with Myra Lewin at Hale Pule Ayurveda & Yoga.

Her background includes over a decade of study with renowned teachers across multiple traditions, including Ashtanga Yoga with Manju Jois, Iyengar Yoga with Kofi Busia, Dharma Yoga with Sri Dharma Mittra, and a five-year astrology apprenticeship with Steven Forrest. She also received mentorship from spiritual teacher and healer Mirabai Devi.

Katy holds a BA in Social Anthropology from The University of Manchester and an MA in Psychology from Columbia University, where her studies focused on spirituality, mind-body medicine, creativity, and human transformation.
